"THINGS WE LOVE" Hosted By THE HEART GALLERY @ The Loft. 8 Lackawanna Plaza, Montclair, NJ

Femi Adedoyin is one of the founders of a monthly gathering of artists, vendors, musicians, poets, singers, and entertainment entrepreneurs in Montclair, NJ. The venue celebrates the creative forces alive in NJ that normally have to travel into the NYC area to get discovered. If you investigate my blog you will see a number of creative individuals who were present at the last gathering. People from all walks of life attend this event for not just the GREAT PERFORMANCES but also the financial opportunities and social networking that you cannot experience anywhere else in New Jersey. My sincerest thanks goes out to Femi, his crew, and the brilliant people who gave the green light to his enterprising idea that has already presented and I am sure will bear GREATER fruit in the future!

Music Blast!!! - TRUSOL

TRUSOL apparently went old school with a true new school vocal-attack @ The HeART GALLERY in Montclair, NJ. Unfortunately, I left early however just watch the video below to see the audience reaction after the show. The one thing I can say is that I did actually meet these guys before the show started and they were genuine and approachable. Click the link in the above title to explore their YouTube site.

Amazing Artists (part 4) - NELSON CABAN of nelsoncaban.com

So I met this guy and he has on this mad different but very much appropriate for his style light blue-type suit with an Usher/Justine Timberlake-ish hat. Being an artist myself with a notoriously wild fashion past, I totally assumed that this cat was an artist of some sort, too... Yo!!!! I was totally right! His name is Nelson Caban and out of all the creative souls that I met that night Nelson definitely was wearing the "crown" of artistic passion and bravado.

For one thing, I did not understand his art so I spoke to the man and his crystal-clear intellect shined through and alleviated all ignorance that I had towards his work. The most dramatic of his material and subject matter was a direct reflection of how he viewed himself. The artist and the creation were, in fact, one creature; one being. He further clarified his subject matter with personal life (sometimes altering) stories that further reinforced his courageous artist endeavors.

I do not know where Nelson's art will take him or develop into over next few year let alone his lifetime but if you see this artist do not hesitate to ask him, "Why?"  The answer you may receive will probably enlighten you if not intrigue you to ask of him more.

MUSIC BLAST!!! - JESSE IDOL

I was attending at a major event this last Sunday night (of which I will blog about in full detail later) and I had the good fortune of meeting several of the performing artists before they hit the stage. One of the first guys I met was the melodic vocalist/song stylist JESSE IDOL and his promoter/manager, Fonzi. Full of good energy and extremely charismatic are two phrases that best describe the vibe of this talented singer and his manager. If you doubt me check out the video below where you can see the seeds of raw talent that this performer has in his vocal repertoire.

GOOD LUCK & KEEP YOUR EYE ON JESSE IDOL!!!

Amazing Artists (part 3) - Cinematographer ADAM SAEWITZ

Understated but SERIOUSLY TECH COOL is the best way to state the interesting energy generated by cameraman, videographer, and Director of Photography (DP), ADAM SAEWITZ. This Brooklyn native has an unwritten passport to the world. He has worked and been flown to exotic locations to be a part of video shoots that needed his expertise.

A very composed and calm demeanor radiates through Adam's personality making him a very chill addition to any clique or circle. A quick and lively wit grounded in a heavy knowledge of all things film related is a sure guarantee that Adam's career and fame have only just begun.

Professional, team-oriented, and a definite "coolness" under pressure makes ADAM SAEWITZ the obvious "Goto Guy" for the hip, adventurous, and thought-provoking filmmaker.

Amazing Artists (part 2) - ALINHR

AOLLANI WILKINSON has the smile of an angel, the heart of a saint, and the hands of a master craftsman! Don't let her delicate fingers and soft voice fool you because her artistic bead working skills produce items that are visually fulfilling and are almost mystical in scope and nature.

At first, I didn't realize the beauty of her work until I picked up one of her smaller pieces and felt the heftiness (to my shock) of such a small item. Upon closer inspection the intricacies and almost rhythmic order of her stone work placement and beading literally jumped out at me. Before long I realized that I was mesmerized by her work and talking in full detail about the item I wanted (scratch that... My soul needed for) her to construct for me.

To place orders or see online catalog of her work email: alinhr4biz@yahoo.com

She is an AMAZING jeweler and wonderful artist who should and will be recognized for her talent and almost magical creations. If you see me in the future you will definitely see some of her art on or around me :)

Amazing Artists (part 1) - COLLECTIVEREVOLUTION.COM

CollectiveRevolution.com is the amazing brainchild of the incredibly creative and artistic mind of Matthew Okpych. Initially, Matthew was just a silkscreen artist making somewhat out of the ordinary t-shirts but somewhere along the way he creatively diverged and began printing on found objects like wood blocks and boards. This led to printing on throw pillows and now he creates his own furniture like designer chairs. Matthew is quick to say that he's artistically "Off that" which personally reminds me of the temperamental and fiery nature of his work. He is an entrepreneur and printing Renaissance man with his own seamstress and clothing line.

His art is sexy and provocative. It speaks to the underlying almost lusty and luxurious decor that speaks to the masculine soul. When viewing his art the eye is tempted to see more and when he tells you that he can custom make you an item just hand over your wallet because D@MMIT it is clearly well worth it! These few photos do not do justice to the visual feast that is the COLLECTIVE REVOLUTION and its founder genius, Matthew Okpych!

THE MONARCH KING'S NAGANATA (LARP!!!!)

I am so making a naganata for the mask I just finished. Can you say LARP?

... IN YOUR LIGHT WE SEE LIGHT. PSALM 36:9

I'm not being (too) religious but I just wanted to share the cosmically universalness of that one line. You could be an alien from a different galaxy and if somebody or something translated that line I do believe that you would understand on some level the all encompassing scope of the verse "... in your light we see light." Psalm 36:9

So I Finally Finished The Masks & They Are Kinda Scary @_@

These are a few pics of some of the GREAT shots of the Oni Mask which was already posted and Odd Ear which I now call THE MONARCH KING. I will be using several of these images for other concepts/projects. If you look closely enough you can see a sneak peek of one of the potential projects.

Enjoy!

Just Want to Wish Everyone A HAPPY THANKSGIVING

If you are with family or by yourself this holiday just remember that there are people and places out there that would love to have your company this time of year. You never have to face the hard stuff alone just try to ask... The Universe... Your GOD in prayer... Or just ask your Higherself for the true answer. St. Francis of Assisi said that all the darkness in the world (I would argue the Universe) cannot extinguish the LIGHT of one candle. This holiday season either seek out THE LIGHT or be THE LIGHT.

Fill your heart with LOVE and if you can accept it a little LIGHT and enjoy this season. I THANK YOU for your support and I am grateful for all your contributions.

PEACE.

ps On a serious note, if you would like to send Mike Biaselli's family a care package email me and I will give you his address and/or the hospital that he is in. GOD bless you, Mike. GOD BLESS.

PRAYERS FOR MIKE BIASELLI

Our former cinematographer or director of photography, Mike Biaselli, was in a terrible car accident last week. I want everyone to put Mike Biaselli in their prayers. He is in critical but stable condition in a south Jersey hospital. They have put him in a coma induced state and from what I understand his long time companion, Maria, has constantly been by his side since the accident which may have involved heart failure.

PLEASE PUT MR. BIASELLI IN YOUR PRAYERS. HE IS A GOOD MAN AND WE ( I, PERSONALLY AND TRULY ) WANT HIM TO HAVE A SPEEDY AND A GLORIOUSLY GRAND RECOVERY.

GOD BLESS YOU, MIKE BIASELLI. GOD BLESS.

Things Are Getting A Little Complicated With My "Odd" Mask And My Odd Past.

So I put the crown piece on Odd Ear's head and it fit... Sorta. So I added a few things that made it look more complete, however, the more I added the more corrections and minor changes had to be made. Can you see where this is going? So several bottles of cheap glue, two cans of spray paint sealant and gloss, and one day later I am still obsessively working on this mask/helmet/super cool/crazy art project.

BTW - I have had the good fortune of communicating with the green lit filmmakers who are as we speak creating an ELF QUEST TRAILER (O-M-FRICKEN-G!!!)!!! I want all of you in March to view hundreds if not thousands of times the ELF QUEST TRAILER upon its release on the web! From what I understand a super mega movie distributer (who shall remain nameless for now) wants to see the numbers (hit stats, audience demographics, etc.) before they green light a feature length movie version of this beloved graphic novel.

Hence, when this trailer comes out we have to do several things namely watch it, then rate it the highest possible rating, then watch it again, then pass on the link, oh yeah - watch it some more, then start some discussion boards, (tired yet?) well you had better watch it one more time for the SUPER HOT CHICKS (correction SUPER SMOKIN' HOT CHICKS ) who are already casted for many of the roles, and finally before we go to sleep that night promise to repeat this pattern again the next day.

As you can tell I had an obsession with the pointy-ear folk as a child and upon hearing about this project... Lets just say geeky fanboy love of kick-@$$ mythical elven heroes never truly dies it just lies dormant until that one day you are walking through the comic book section of your local bookstore, or unpacking old childhood storage items, or surfing the web looking for ways to finance your project and you find someone else's project and you scream "OMG! I WANT TO BE A PART OF THAT!!!!"... Oh well, now that that issue is momentarily off my shoulders back to Odd Ear. Oh wait... HE'S AN ELF, TOO! I think I need some help...

LOLin' to myself big time because I honestly had forgotten this part of my life.

Totally relieved ^_^ and a little embarrassed :$

So Now The Mask Wants To Be An Elf.

The elven king mask I named Odd Ear  kinda made itself. Every hole and missing piece had a future purpose in its construction. If you have been following its progress on other sites then you can actually see how construction and the nearly complete phase I am in right now with the beautiful under coat of paint is dictating to me the what and how of this project. I did not start out to make an elf mask but now that it has revealed itself and I am eager to see where it goes or for the better part where I am taken.

BTW - The older pics are at the bottom while the new stuff is at the top ;)

Cafe Z (in Union, NJ) Our First Sponsor!

The festival meeting last night was fruitful. I and the judges discussed some key points of the future festival and met some very interesting entertainment folks that actually live in the area. Apparently, every Thursday at Cafe Z is comedy night and the promoter for the weekly comedy event introduced us to some of his crew.

Also, the Cafe Z staff were very friendly and professional. Pictured below in the center is Patty, the owner of Cafe Z. I am on the far left with my arm on Harold B. Gibson's shoulder. Next to Patty on the right is Steve Yank and on the far right Bruce Bertrand.

Look for the Cafe Z logo on the V2V Festival site on the Sponsor's Bar and on the Links Page!

STRESS Sometimes Equals A Heck Of A Lot Of CREATIVITY!!!

As you can tell I'm stresin' big time!!! The V2VIFF.com fest site is fine and progressing at a good pace. The movie stuff is chugging along so I can't complain. My previous short films are actually getting some good press so WHY AM I FREAKING OUT... It's just not happening fast enough!!!

I just figured out that each and every time I make or do an art project it is like a coping mechanism that keeps me from flipping my lid (LMAO 4 REAL!!!)! I figure at this pace I had better rent a warehouse for storage of all the art projects I am going to complete before I leave this world (AY-YII-YIIIIIIIII!!!!)!

... And NO!!!
It (once I piece it together) & the rest of my art is not for sale!
:P
