For those of you who eat garlic cloves there's a trick I learned back in 2000 that makes it easier to use.
Take individual cloves and separate them. Put each individual clove in microwave for 5-10 seconds on high and the outer husk comes off with ease. It may be hot to the touch but after it cools you have a soft and tender ready to eat piece of garlic.
Don't overheat in microwave because garlic will become chewy.
