The Lepidopteran Update & Some Familiar Plus New Pics

So I can't let go of hopes for The Lepidopteran. I took 3 of the scripts from the series and entered them into The New World Film Festival and I placed the first script in the series on Taleflick.com but I don't have a lookbook for the series so I keep redirecting readers to this blog.  Due to some really bad omens Human Game 3 filming has been postponed until the Fall!!! Hopefully in a few weeks or months I will get good news and be able to change the schedule!!!

--- Title: Human Game Written By: Nathan Waire Summary: Morgan, a physic, tries to help detectives solve their unsolved cold cases. Notes: Human Game tells the story of Morgan, a physic, who offers her services to Detective Shan and his team to assist in solving their unsolved cold cases. The story has an extremely interesting plo and will certainly be new to audiences as the plot is unique and fresh. To add, the characters in this story are all developed well and have great in depth traits that really make them stand out and will certainly attract audiences to them. Moreover, the character’s background stories are well written and bring great complexity to the story as a whole such as Carol and the struggles she faces. These are all great traits for a screenplay and are just a few examples of the strength this story has. One issue with this script is the improper formatting of sluglines. A proper scene heading starts with INT./EXT. which indicates whether the scene takes place inside or outside. Next, is the actual location of the scene- wherever it may be. Lastly, the time of day should be indicated. However, in this screenplay the use of slug lines are often incomplete which makes for a confusing read. For case in point, on page 1 the scene headings aren’t fully written but instead show that the scene is taking place at a delivery room. It is necessary to go back and edit all scenes that are missing a time of day from the slugline. Another issue with this script is the fact that the scene headings aren’t always labeled correctly where they should be. In a screenplay, it is mandatory to indicate when you switch scenes to ensure that the readers are aware of the different scene changes. For case in point, on page 5, Carol and Jim enter the kitchen, however, this is not indicated properly with a new slugline. It is imperative to write the full scene headings for each location that is written in the script in an effort to ensure the script is following proper screenplay format, thus it is necessary to go back and edit that scene to ensure every location is labeled properly. Lastly, another formatting issue with this script comes about on page 7 with the lack of indication that the script has gone back in time. On page 7 we flashback to a closeup on Morgan, however, it needs to be indicated that we have gone back in time. Using proper screenplay format, the script should say BEGIN FLASHBACK in order to inform the audience that we are now leaving the present and entering the past. Moreover, there should be a new scene heading to inform the audience of where the characters are in that moment. Lastly, when you are ready to return to the present there should be an END FLASHBACK to indicate that we are in the present. It is necessary to edit the script and be sure to use proper screenplay formatting. Other Formatting Issues: Minor characters should be capitalized. (i.e. AFRICAN AMERICAN MAN- page 1) This issue occurs numerous times throughout the script. Sounds should be capitalized. (i.e. SCREAMING- page 1) This issue occurs numerous times throughout the script. Use ‘BabyGirl’ and “Gigi’ in the dialogue stanzas on page 2. There should be no background information in the action paragraphs. (i.e. Detective Shan is confused because he has never seen this girl before in his life- page 9). In conclusion, this script was extremely compelling and told an unique and interesting story that audience’s would be excited to see. Moreover, the first ten pages really did an outstanding job at establishing the tone of the overall story. Furthermore, introducing the main characters and the plot that we will follow throughout the film is a sure way to grab the audience’s attention and keep them engaged. Although the script still has some issues, specifically regarding proper formatting, once this is reworked it will make for an even stronger story! Happy Writing!

Looking for Actresses Who Can Ride Motorcycles in NJ/NYC

I am currently looking for two women with motorcycles who don't mind doing a little acting in my next film HUMAN GAME 3: THE REVELATION. 

There will be GREAT EXPOSURE and both women will get an IMDb page and IMDb credit as well as having their name in the credits at the end. Without revealing the plot, one of the two women end up being a heroine by the end of the script and both women will be characters will be featured in the next episode of the script series!

Pro Bodybuilder JOE PAPPALARDO Will Appear In HG3

 Just a quick note that the IFBB Pro Joseph Pappalardo who also is the creator of Pure Fit Nation will have a role (that I am keeping under wraps for now) in Human Game 3. That is all I am going to say for now but I will leave you a few pics of the man in action... I feel for anyone who has to go up against Joe (hint, hint)!!!

Human Game 3 Is A Go (Fund Me Page (lol))

 It has been a while since I focused in on the Human Game series and right now I am sitting in the doctor’s office waiting for my appointment with the nurse. All is well but it is a routine check up. 

I started writing and am about 3 weeks away from completing HG3 script. The pieces are coming together but for the cast (so far) the script was so complicated in the little bit that I gave them (no way was I giving more than the first 11 pages) I had to send them a spoiler email explaining almost everything. I usually don’t like doing this but there is a lot at stake with this project.

For one, my old classmate and former official photographer for President Obama is set to be the cinematographer on the project. This means that I am going to have to fly him and his equipment in from the Midwest. Plus give him and his crew lodging for about 3 weeks in June for the shoot.

I have motorcycle 🏍 stunts in this one so we need to get bikes. I currently have the good fortune of being in contact with the Newark Knights Motorcycle Club who may or may not be able to assist us... Fingers crossed!!!

THE YARD Won BEST EXPERIMENTAL FILM In The GMOFC

 I am really pleased to see that THE YARD won BEST EXPERIMENTAL FILM for January in the GMOFC. The Yard was selected many years ago to be in the Garden State Film Festival thanks to Kevin Caruso who was a judge in the festival and also the scripts screenwriter.

We Won 4 Awards In The Global Monthly Online Film Competition

Although they are not an IMDb qualifying contest yet it was gratifying to win 4 awards in this competition. We got Best Director-Jury Choice for Virulent, Best Short film - Jury Choice & Best Short Screenplay for Human Game 2, and finally Best Television Screenplay for BOY!!!!

Hopefully, this is a good sign for 2021!!!

HAPPY HOLIDAYS and Some More News

 First let me say that whatever your beliefs I truly hope that in this season you can fill your hearts with LOVE and enjoy the comforts of home and family.

I am thankful because of the associates that I have made throughout the years and the information that they have shared with me. Our cinematographer and editor for Virulent and part of Somber hipped me to a Great application for African-American artist. It is called the "No Award For That Creatives" Application. They are apparently looking for industry folk who have been overlooked. Everyone from screenwriters to filmmakers and all those creatives in between so this is perfect for someone in my position. I applied as a filmmaker but mentioned my books and awards for my work.

Speaking of books... Both my books are available on Amazon and other online bookstores and if ordered soon can make it to your home by Christmas (shameless plug... I know).

Also, I found a new monthly competition that gives laurels and certificates away for just placing and not even for winning in the award you apply for. What makes this competition so great is that the entry fees are as low as $10 for short films! Perfect!!! It is called the Global Monthly Online Film Competition and it can be found on FilmFreeway.com

So it is almost 2021 and this heck of a year is almost over! I have been planning on 2021 for the pass few months. I have been writing on 5 scripts and a new novel that I plan on activating/putting into effect come the new year. Let's make 2021 spectacular!!!

 Well I voted 🗳 last month and found out today that I didn’t get selected for the Book Pipeline Competition. I felt blue for a while but I realized that there is more to come. FYI the girl’s name is pronounced Neenoonska but she spells it the proper way. I hope that she is single because I wanna ask her out... I will see her again around the sixth so wish me luck!!!

Outskirts Press Fees Paid!!!

 Since last year I had not paid my storage fees for my two books (Zen Cookbook and Other Bizarre Screenplays & Boy: A Story Based On True Events). I wasn’t slacking but I had changed email address and missed their notice. The Matrix and My Tears

Nothing too profound this time just that I just got through watching The Matrix again and once again I began to cry when Neo begins to believe. It probably has something to do with my own life experience being shot at in over four incidents and not being hit. SOMBER 😔 A Video Poem

I was inspired to make this video based on a real girl 👧 I met at the hospital. She was extremely attractive yet was not capable of doing many things like talking for long periods. She spoke with a computer 👩‍💻.
In truth, I wanted to use her for the film but her caretakers were in the country under precarious circumstances... that is all I can say.

Virulent A Short Crime Story

This was a quick video that I created just to get my feet wet again in the festival circles. It stars a very young and talented Morgan Hope as Mary plus there’s some familiar faces from my filmmaking past. The film won Best Crime Short , Best Director, and Best Original Score from various festivals!!!
An interesting spoiler story... The same day that we filmed the liquor store robbery the actual store got robbed. The FBI caught the guys a day later but fortunately for us the store owner was not hurt nor shaken up by the robbery so we continued filming over the next few days.... it was the first robbery in over 10 years!
Strange coincidence but still good fortune!

Strange But Comforting

When I smoke 💨 cigars I often pray. For the pass few months I have been getting circles in the smoke 💨 as I prayed. It has been strange but still a comforting signs. I wonder what it all means!!!
Anyway just a thought... maybe the Angels 👼 have something special in store!!!

One of my best actors recently had some bad luck. He moved from NJ to Atlanta to start a new life but a fire destroyed part of the condo leaving water damage to the rest of the place. But what makes this horrific is that looters ransacked the place taking everything from the sinks to the bed!!!

Harold is a good man and if you could please donate to get them back on their feet it would be greatly appreciated... Now all Harold wants to do is get back up North and help his fiancée take care of her cancer stricken father.

Genuine Real People Casting (HIPA)

I was recently sought out by Melissa who works for Genuine RP Casting due to some of the artwork I made in my youth. I filled out a questionnaire that asked me about my previous acting career. It was funny remembering that stuff from my past. I recall listing my commercials with HBO and Tostidos but could not recall any other gigs because they had the questionnaire marked ASAP so I felt obligated to send it to them pronto!!! It has been a long time since anyone major has wanted to interview me about my artwork so once again I’m gonna cross my fingers and wish for the best!!!

SOMBER Showing January 15th, 2020

SOMBER will be showing at Anthology Film Archives ( 2nd Street at 2nd Ave in NYC) on January 15th! The film festival showcase is at 7pm and tickets are just $7 for the entire night!
I am still not sure if I am going but if I can I will LOVE 💕 to see you there... it’s only 4 minutes but it is a good one ☝️ to catch!!!

Big Festivals

I have been busy submitting to the larger festivals. Cinequest, TriBeCa, Slamdance, Sundance and even the glorious Garden State to name a few but the holiday season is here so I have decided to slow down. Some of my old scripts got new blood and I entered into script festivals like Fade In’s True Story/Biopic Competition... I just can’t get rid of the notion that BOY has dramatic potential... so I entered it.
Anyway keep cozy this holiday season and send us some good energy and luck!!!

Somber

I am currently working on my next short film called Somber. We hired a professional dancer to play the role of the girl in the wheelchair. Ashley, our dancer 💃, did a fantastic job! She danced from 6:30 till 8 am on Saturday then performed in a wheelchair until 9 am. Fernando Cortez was the cinematographer and our editing will be done by Anice Jee!!! Steve Yank also provided a touching piece of music to the film called “Perchance to Dance”.
I am still considering whether or not to add a poem to the film. The first poet was too expensive and I have not heard the next poets interpretation of the film and its script although I really like the idea of verbally expressing the dancers desire to move.
Hopefully this will be an inspiration and success! We are still hearing back from the festivals. The next deadline is August 25th for ISF in Los Angeles! Plus there are some more festivals that we are waiting to hear from but their deadlines are later on.
