OKAY I WAS WRONG!!!

Twitter is not so bad...

Twitter Kinda SUCKS... And Other Odd Stuff

So I started to tweet and I really don't get it. I mean to say that I understood everything about the site but I am just not a fame or fad fanatic. So ya go to the grocery store and ya tweet it... BIG DEAL! Do you really need to share that info? Do you really want people on your jock that hard that they know where your lame @$$ is going and probably be harassed at? So fine I am on Twitter now although I don't think that I will be tweeting anything personal EVER!!!!

FYI - For about a week we went totally viral on Openfilm.com and it was GREAT!!! I don't know who was looking but I am glad they took a second to watch a handful of my vids. I really feel good about that.

The festival is about two weeks away and all seems to be going well. The Human Game 2 or HG2 will be shown in the Courthouse Theater around 7:15 or after Greg Paxton ( a NewFilmmakers Alum ) shows his film. It is truly a honor to be in the same grouping as any alum of the NewFilmmakers Festival. So once again I feel good ( somebody cue the James Brown clip because I am saying this phrase too much(lol)).

My next short film YARD RATS is moving along at a good pace. I do have some location issues but basically everything else is falling in place. I really want to see how this one turns out. Each film is a learning experience and I think that my editing, writing, and filming style is getting better because it is amalgamating very intuitively. I don't think about making the film I just film. the same can be said of my editing and writing. If it looks right and feels right trust in yourself that it probably is right no matter how odd the situation or medium.

Believe in yourself, trust in your higher power and most importantly go with the flow. I will tweet the Openfilm stuff and the festival info the rest is up to the universe.

I am slowly trying to get over my fear of being photographed. I used to act so this phobia is just a phase. If anything I will start to post cool pics of myself and others as the festivals come around.

YARD RATS, New Music & A New Screenplay For My Novella BOY

For about a year I have been sitting on a prison script called YARD RATS that needed a good location to shoot at and that was both safe and affordable. Thanks to some really good networking I am very close to seeing this desire fulfilled! There is even potential distribution involved but the project will have to be completed first.

On the music scene, a friend of mine by the name of Mike Bales hipped me to the UHQ or Urban Hillbilly Quartet. I know what you are thinking and at first I wasn't sure what to expect but that was where the delight and joy lies in this music. ERIK BRANDT the band leader of UHQ is pure genius! His quirky and alternative sound will uplift and surprise you with each change of song. There is even a dark side to his music that really intrigues me. I am currently working on adding several pieces of his music to my short film repertoire ... hmmm can anyone say YARD RATS (hint, hint)!!

Finally, I could take it anymore! The (mild) perfectionist in me went through my previous works and freaked out (for the thousandth time) about the errors in my books. So instead of revising in particular the novella BOY with a self-publisher I opted to revamp the book as a screenplay and market them together as a package. If you can't think outside the box get out the fricken ring! I am pleased to say the screenplay is complete. The packages should be ready by next month.

So once again to all my readers THANKS FOR YOUR SUPPORT and wish me luck.

So 2010 is here!!!!

Hey Everyone!

For some of you closest to me you know that the past two months have been full of drama. As some of you know, I truly dislike drama in my personal affairs. Maybe it was my old nemesis Mercury in retrograde (lol) or maybe it was just a learning experience like everything else in life.

First, let me say that people still disappoint me. That said some of my closest business associates played some rather foolish and tricky games with me over our last endeavor. I, currently, am not in communication or association with them any longer. Sure there is a food chain or hierarchy involved but the second you betray friendship that bond is broken forever. I feel incredibly bad because their trickery caused me to brake my word to several potentially new allies and for that reason alone these old associates are off my list of reliable and trustworthy friends.

Putting grievances aside I took the music from the soundtrack of Human Game 2 and uploaded it to several music sites. The widget is on the side of this blog and the actual music will be available for download by February 20th of this year on itunes and Amazon.

The music is clearly meant for film and/or TV. It has some different beats for sure but a grind-like resonance that holds it all together. Listen to it and tell me what you think.

I will be posting more about the music in the future as it pops up on different sites. Just type in Sapien Films to find it. THANKS for your support and I will keep you informed.

Final thoughts on 2009

First let me say that I am THANKFUL that I and most of the people I know made through this year unscathed. In all truth, this was an interesting year. I completed several short films that have gathered a following of sorts. I learned who were true friends and who were just along for the ride. I understand that no matter how much responsibility you trust others with or that they willingly accept in the end it is just you and your belief in a higher power that completes the day or ends the adventure with victory.

Overall, people as a whole still disappoint me although I am HAPPY to know that there are a few that have both good intentions and the ability to act effectively on those intentions. More so, I feel a greater compassion for those who break through boundaries or persist until something good manifests from their actions. It is one thing the say a thing (lip service) and another the finish the task.

I wonder what 2010 holds in store. I know that I still have debts to pay but thankfully I am wiser for my efforts and dealings this year. All that I can hope is that I can effectively apply my experience to the tasks ahead to make them easier and more joyful for all who matter in my life.

FYI - Several good things transpired due to the early screening but if you want to find out you will have to contact me directly because I'm not telling :P

The talented and beautiful Erin Leigh Farnkopf plays bloody victim # 1 in THE HUMAN GAME 2 - The Culling Of A King. She was born on the Jersey Shore and Currently resides there still. Her interest in acting began at a young age. Erin participated in every play and musical while in school, including roles such as Olive Madison in The Odd Couple: Female Version and Serena Katz in Fame. She went on to do community theatre and then landed a part in an off off Broadway show called "Short Stories 10" with the Native Alien Theatre Collective. Since then she has gone on to do background work on TV shows such as "Mercy," "Gossip Girl," and "White Collar." She has been featured on "Law and Order: Criminal Intent" and the new movie "Date Night."

Dramatic Cold Reading by CINDY CAPRIO

Last April I held a meeting to interview several new DoPs. Amongst them were Jason 'Jay' Glover of RunningManShot and Mike Biaselli of Off On A Tangent Productions. I asked several of my actors to do readings to test the camera work of the DoPs and I was shocked by Cindy Caprio's dramatic reading. It was so very natural and believable in its flow despite the subject matter. If you want to see her in action she plays the rude waitress in The Human Game - Episode 1 and can be seen acting in several indie films from this last Summer.

Brittany Is Marie (Victim # 2)

If you have been keeping up with my blog then you have seen this actress before. I met her and her mom at a networking in Phillie. Actually, I knew her mom, Andrea Richardson, from a previous networking that had nothing to do with the industry.

However, back to Brittany! She is only 13 years old but an extremely talented actress. I was surprised at the believable range of her performance at such a young age. Brittany (or Brit as I call her) plays, Marie, the serial killer's second victim. Her death scene actually made me jump and I wrote and directed everything. So I do believe that there is a bright future for Brit in the industry.

FYI - I even put her mom to work as a bystander in the crowd and yes she did a wonderful job, too!

I look forward to seeing Brit succeed!

Cesar Salazar As Marie's Admirer

Cesar Salazar is a great new talent in the acting biz. He is both comedic and dramatic in acting styles. A force to be reckoned with, Cesar was former boxer who after stepping in the ring with an opponent of a different weight division (that should not have happened!!!) broke his jaw. I am sure that is when Cesar reassessed his career path and decided to become an actor. In his short foray in acting he has seen a fair amount of success working with HBO and filming a pilot which has only added fuel to his ambitions. Look for Cesar in my next film as Marie's admirer in THE HUMAN GAME 2 - The Culling Of A King. This short film will be released in December.
