So Spock aka Brian M. Wixson’s wife Laura has an Etsy store where she sells hand woven (knitted) gifts like blankets and scarves BUT she also knits ๐งถ miniature items. Spock said that she wanted to give me a present for all the comments and support I gave her on social media sites so I freaked out!!! What could she be giving me???? It so happened that Spock was on his way to a fundraiser and wanted to drop it off. I freaked again!!! Over joyed with anticipation I greeted Spock who was already late and noticed something on his fingers… A DOORKNOB COZY????? LOL!!!! Apparently, she had an extra one… I didn’t even know that people made or needed those especially one with a Googly eye ๐ in the center!!! Well, it’s PERFECT for Halloween ๐ป and I never had one before so this is clearly a scary good first!!! There’s a picture of Spock about to drive away as I’m holding it!!! Spock did say that some people with disabilities actually find doorknob cozies helpful… you learn something new everyday!!!! Thanks, Laura!!!! I Love It!!!

About 15 years ago, I created (with the inspiration of E. Vincent Burrows) a story about an African American serial killer because it wasn't seen or done before on TV. Well, the storyline progressed, and I filmed two of the scripts plus wrote a stranger/standalone script in the series that has gained some accolades! Below are several photos of its movement through the ranks. Not pictured is the ranking (which is 49% on Coverfly) of the script with the series Bible through The Titan Awards.
Just for fun, I will include the first concept short for the series which shows E. Vincent Burrows in the title role and H.B. Gibson as the Jamaican professor. FYI - H.B. Gibson later replaced E. as the title character in Human Game 2!

So I entered The Big Apple Film Festival’s Agents and Managers Lab again this year with my script *BEEP*!!! I had some success with The Choice in last Fall’s competition but it was cut short by the writers strike. If you check my older posts you can see some of the progress that was made before the strike. I am hoping that they resolve these issues before the end of the year so whatever comes of The BAFF this year will be productive (if I even get into the lab)!!!
Also, my sci-fi script, The Lepidopteran, was entered into the Stage 32 Animation Competition! I hope that people/readers of it will check out the artwork for the script in older posts by typing in the search box in the web version of my blog. If curious just type Lepidopteran and most of the articles/posts should pop up! I hope you and anyone interested in the script enjoy the art as much as the script. It would be awesome as anime!!! Below is one of my favorite pieces!

About 10 years ago, I wrote and directed a short film that was to be an hour long pilot. It’s only 20 minutes but based on an hour long script. It’s about an actual group of mobile health care workers who I had contact with in the early 2000s. Amazingly, it cost only $2000 to make and was shot in just a few locations. It placed in the Semifinals of Fade In Online as well as showing in several festivals!!! Below is the trailer and short which can be found on YouTube!!!

I wasn’t expecting much today but Life is full of Love and surprises!
First, I got a notification from FilmFreeway that The Towen 2 got accepted into The Cult Film Festival in England ๐ด๓ ง๓ ข๓ ฅ๓ ฎ๓ ง๓ ฟ so I began notifying the cast and crew of their good news!
Next, I checked my and my mom’s blogs. Lo and behold, my mom’s blog had reached the 4000 mark (which is GREAT seeing that she has not been writing on it for a while) and when I checked my blog it had crossed the 90,000 mark!!! I was shocked and pleased because it has been increasing exponentially for the past few months!
Finally at the end of the day it stopped raining and when I went out I saw not one but three rainbows ๐!!! Two were together and the other was towards the right of the house so I snapped a few pictures!!! What makes this extra special is that during the rain ๐ง I was praying for an answer and when the rain came to an end I got it!!!! I won’t tell you what I was praying for but after I got the answer and those rainbows ๐ appeared I knew GOD had heard my little prayer and was reassuring me that it was going to be okay!!!

I did something different with my script HG3 (Human Game 3: The Revelation) by attaching a series Bible to the script on Coverfly.com as a separate entry into a competition. It was the same competition that I entered *BEEP* into and it didn't place BUT as an individual entry it did score high enough to rank 49% on Coverfly!!! So maybe the effort wasn't for not even though I wanted it to place!
Also, I started last week a national campaign promoting my books. Maybe some of you received a letter in the mail with 2 postcards in it. On the postcards I have QR codes for the different sites that I wanted more exposure for, and one postcard had the books QR codes on Amazon along with the url sites for my social media. So I added a few pictures to show y’all the progress!!! This is the rewrite of my script BOY and it got it’s ranking from The Titan Awards even tho it didn’t make it to the quarterfinals!!! On Coverfly it also received the top 35% badge!!! FYI-None of my scripts made it into The Titan Awards but two had their ranking increase!!! This is one of them.

I wrote two books at the beginning of the millennia that saw a little success but never really took off. So, because they were prototypes for scripts, I rewrote them recently and individually entered them into competitions. I took one script from THE ZEN COOKBOOK AND OTHER BIZARRE SCREENPLAYS called One Man's Choice and modernized it. I renamed it, THE CHOICE, and entered it into The BAFF or Big Apple Film Festival. It won!
The other script called *BEEP* was a cross between the namesake stories of both THE ZEN COOKBOOK and BOY: A STORY BASED ON TRUE EVENTS. BOY was the actual story of what happened with I and my autistic brother before his death and THE ZEN COOKBOOK was a colorful yet existential script based on the same upbringing. *BEEP* won The SIFF (Swedish International Film Festival).

It seems that my contact out West was correct that the writer’s strike would last longer than Labor Day!!! This sucks but I’d rather get these things done now than suffer pay cuts later on!!!
The Towen 2 has been sent to several festivals… we’ll see!
Also, I didn’t get into the Sundance program this year but I still have certain competitions like The Titan Awards and Macroproject that have my work.
The producer who has been looking at my script BEEP and it’s earlier version The Zen Cookbook is on vacation until September even though he said that he was working on a feature so hopefully all these things will pick up speed in a month or so!!!

Greetings Everyone!!!
I have some updates for you that have yet to be resolved. First off, The Towen 2 was completed last Sunday and because I am submitting it to festivals I got the chance to see it before the actors and crew! Steve Yank really put his heart in this one and for a no-budget film it is a psychedelic trip! It’s a mesh of old school tricks with campy flavor… the 70ish special effects are enough to get it into horror festivals… so we’ll submit and see!!!
Also, I submitted The PACT script and trailer to Sundance Episodic Contest back in February and they’re announcing on August 21st who’s going to get in! I’ve already been told by two psychic people that I don’t make it in but I have Faith that GOD supernaturally is in control so I’ll just wait for the outcome.
Finally, I entered 3 different scripts (*BEEP*, HG3 with series Bible, and The Choice) into Industrial Script’s The Titan Awards on Coverfly!!! They’ll be announcing quarter finalists August 31st… my odds are a little better for this one. I only pray that one of them goes further than that and makes it to the end of the competition!!! The rewards are pretty good ๐

People came from as far away as 3 hours drive to attend this cookout! Amongst them were my producer/actor friend, Brian M. Wixson and E. Vincent Burrows (who acted in The Towen 2 along with other films that I made)… Spock aka Brian gets special thanks for driving hour and half to the event with E. and myself… E actually drove 2 hours before hand to reach my house before jumping in the car with us!!! This was (minus a few) the first first time so many of the cast of Kevin Caruso’s The Yard had gathered in one spot!!! HB Gibson would’ve come but he was on a panel at a voice over actors convention.
And there were special guests! Emma and Angel Martinez jr who just happened to have a home 30 minutes from the cookout. He is running for Councilman in Brooklyn but has a home in Pennsylvania and stopped by due to my request!!! He has a great script based on real life events that he wants me to organize a zoom reading for in the next month so I was glad he showed up to discuss it!!!
Anyway, Spencer (one of the actors in Towen series) worked the grill with Steve and towards the end they all signed posters, shared gifts, took pictures and had a wonderful toast from Buddy (the eldest actor) to the cast and crew of The Towen films!!! Even the writer, Heather Gengaro aka Gen17, was there signing books and getting some pictures taken!!! I got a shot of her and her children holding up a signed copy of the book I bought!!!! BTW-Heather enjoyed the cigars I brought the most and took a few which made me feel good ๐!!!

My mother doesn’t get out the house much even though we try to encourage it! But today was kind of nice so she came out for a little bit and saw my sister’s herbal garden. To cheer her up for weeks my sister has been planning to bring home some parakeets and she did today as well!!! I’ll post pictures of the birds ( salt and pepper (although they are green (lol))) later! But for now, here’s a few pictures of my family enjoying the day!

My ride into NYC thought that the mixer was Wednesday and didn’t realize that it was Tuesday… he didn’t read my blog close enough lol ๐ and even though we spoke about it he just got the 27th confused with the 28th at work so we canceled and are going next month when the next date is announced!
In other news, the producer I met at the first mixer read several of my scripts and liked one so for the past few weeks I have been doing a rewrite of that script according to the notes he gave me in our meeting! Last week I finished the rewrite and I have been awaiting his response! More than likely I will have to do another rewrite because I gave him a barebones version of the script looking for more insight.
Also, I got the chance to talk to Kevin Caruso (who now lives and writes in California) about the writers strike. He’s one of the fortunate writers who have a backup job and insider info is that the strike will go on past Labor Day BUT my Spiritual gut and inside man says it should be resolved in July because I am pretty sure that the BIG STUDIOS don’t want the writers and actors striking at the same time… just my 2 cents!!!! FYI - *BEEP*, HG3 and The Choice have all been doing well in the festivals so hopefully I’ll have more GOOD NEWS in the future months!!!

I first met Chris at a NY Film/TV Networking event. He was quiet and kept to himself but was always near the promoters of the event. I later found out that he was actually one of the promoters who kept a low profile! He actually does a podcast with Daron Jenkins that focuses on music and that was how I found out that he is a talented musician!!! Below are some of the videos from his YouTube channel!!! From cover songs to originals, he’s a great musician with a laid back melodic voice.
